About the Role:


Working with the Communications and Engagement team, in-house ICT development team and external providers, the post holder will play a vital role in the production, system administration, and performance measurement of our websites, social media, and other digital communications platforms, including our intranet.


Through our wide range of online platforms, you will help us tell the story of Greater Manchester and the work being done across a range of priority areas for our city region - from the environment and young people, through to fire and rescue, and improving outcomes for older people.


Key Upcoming Projects:


  • Supporting the Senior Digital Communications Manager and developers to deliver a new SharePoint Online staff intranet. Your focus will be on sitemaps, templates, user experience, functionality testing, community engagement and more.
  • Administration and user management of our social media management platform, onboarding new users from across the organisation, embedding moderation best practice, reporting on analytics, and training people on how to use the platform and its features.

About You:


We need someone with an aptitude for communications and digital technologies to help us deliver high quality, engaging digital content across our websites and intranet.

You will need a good writing ability as well as proficient ICT skills.


We're looking for an experienced website administrator or web content officer with an excellent understanding of content management systems, social media platforms, and a basic knowledge of HTML/CSS.


You'll Also Be:

- able to check for and fix content-based Accessibility issues on websites
- at home with Google Analytics
- a good people person - able to coach web authors and teach non-technical colleagues how to use different systems and platforms
- a quick learner and motivated self-learner
- able to troubleshoot problems and test new features
- adaptable, enthusiastic, and able to switch between different tasks to support colleagues and changing priorities
- creative, with a good eye for layouts and engaging content
- able to scan for new digital trends, tools and platforms to improve our capabilities and performance
