Description
Are you passionate about improving Young People's mental health in Gloucestershire?

Do you want a new challenge and the opportunity to learn new skills?

Gloucestershire CAMHS is growing thanks to additional investment and a process of service transformation.

We are therefore seeking to recruit enthusiastic, skilled and supportive individuals to provide high quality mental health services to children and young people up to their 18th birthday.

We are also looking for those interested in delivering evidence-based interventions with children, young people and their families under the guidance of a CAMHS care coordinator.

The mental health navigator role involves engaging young people in activities to increase positive experiences, supporting them to use the coping strategies and skills that they have learnt, and ensure that the young person's voice is reflected in the support we offer.

We can offer you the opportunity to learn interventions to address a variety of different needs such as anxiety and emotional regulation.

  • Develop therapeutic relationships and engage with children and young people with moderate to severe mental health needs.
  • Provide the "support" link in the care coordination process for an allocated number of children and young people within the core team caseload, liaising and sharing information which maybe complex and sensitive with others involved in the care and in line with the Consent to Share Information Policy.
  • Enable children and young people to develop their own self management "tool kit" of personal coping mechanisms and support networks to build future mental health resilience
  • Role modelling interventions to parents/carers
  • Support transitions between clinical pathways and agencies
  • Offering participation based opportunities to gain service experience feedback to improve future service delivery
  • To work with multi disciplinary CAMHS team colleagues to develop care plans for children and young people, ensuring delegated interventions to care plans are delivered, this will include participation in the risk assessing and management process in line with CPA//Care Management Policy.
  • Have up to date knowledge and working links with a breadth of support services to direct children and young people to information and self help resources to promote social inclusion and recovery in all aspects of planned care with a commitment to empowerment and promoting independence within a climate of safe practice.

This post requires the post holder to be able to undertake all statutory and mandatory training and post holders must be able to undertake physical interventions.

Fitness for physical intervention will be assessed by Occupational Health.

A valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is essential.

For qualifying staff the Trust has a Lease Car Scheme in place and also offers a popular Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme with our partner Tusker.

At Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust, we are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it.

This is the same approach we take for our employees.

We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is part of the NHS. We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards.

The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.
