Sainsbury's is currently undergoing a multi-year logistics transformation programme, aiming to achieve integration across our Sainsbury's and Argos brands, improved operational efficiencies, and deliver a multi-million-pound cost saving to our logistics cost base which comprises one of the companies top 10 big bet 'save to invest' programmes; externally, we committed to saving £150m over 5 years.

Our Supply Chain & Logistics Strategy team is at the heart of delivering this change.


As Project Management Office (PMO) programme support, you will work within the Logistics Strategy team and work closely with our Programme Manager as well as Change, HR, Operations and Finance.

You will co-ordinate all programme administration activity across our end-to-end programme from Strategy through to Implementation to ensure we have a clear strategy and change plan with well understood risks and opportunities helping to form trade-offs or choices as we go.


You will assist with compilation of reports and programme governance documents including the collation of updates and distribution to key stakeholders providing a reference point for queries, maintaining the program plan, complete risk, opportunity, interdependency reviews and tracking lessons learnt for Continuous Improvement and feedback to leadership team for future considerations.


You will provide PMO process expertise as required and coaching project managers to adopt procedures, working to enhance them as required in line with wider group changes/compliance requirements.

What you need to Know & Show

  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills and ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint to a high degree of competence
  • Understanding and previous experience working on project governance with a working knowledge of basic project management tools. Desired but not necessarily required; Relevant Project Management qualification
  • Flexibility to meet business requirements
  • Takes time to really understand processes, engages with colleagues to check understanding, and then works to implement change to make things simpler
