Job description:
The role sits within the Commercial Directorate. The role holder will report to the Head of Business Intelligence and Commercial Systems.
The Commercial Systems & Intelligence team has ownership and accountability of the technology used to manage the commercial lifecycle from source to contract across the Health System (the DHSC, it's ALBs and the NHS).
We are on an ambitious journey which will create an industry leading platform, with easy access to data creating visibility of commercial pipelines, enabling collaboration to drive commercial effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability and resilience.
Overview of the post/area of work
- Identify and realise opportunities for systems and reporting synergy across NHS Trusts systems, Arm's length Bodies and the Department itself, extending this to Central Government when possible;
- Support the development of staff in the Commercial Systems & Intelligence team, as well as colleagues across the wider Directorate, to ensure benefits of data and systems investment are realised;
- Contract ownership of commercial systems contracts. Leading on renewal / replacement of commercial systems aligned to the commercial systems and data strategy
- Change management ownership and oversight of the Commercial systems
- Collaborating across the department and work closely with Other Government Departments
- Supplier relationship and performance management, ensuring the department receives the contracted services and the supplier is supported sufficiently to develop and grow
Role responsibilities
- Team leader of the Commercial Systems team, which is currently 3 direct reports.
- Lead on cross departmental working groups to drive a prioritised enhancement list of development of commercial systems
- Commercial
- Impact Assessment of product development release notes and coordination with Change Assurance Board
- Business contract manager of the Health System Contract with eprocurement provider, ensuring supplier and contract performance is managed in accordance with commercial standards.
- Ownership of financial management of commercial systems contracts, ensuring invoices are paid and recharging is managed effectively.
- Lead on regular reviews of risk based due diligence for contracts related commercial systems.
- Manage business risks to ensure the commercial systems and data strategy is delivered to the expected standard
- Process owner of 2nd line internal support of the commercial system
- Support Finance team with development and testing of the downstream finance system, working closely with commercial policy and process team.

Key skills and experience required for the role
- Experience or understanding of system configuration and impact on relevant datasets
- Experience of setting up and leading on systems change/release management
- Contract and supplier management experience
- Highly literate, capable of drafting communications of a high standard to be read by a wide
