37.5 Hours per week / Permanent


An opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic dietitians to join our friendly and dynamic team at The South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


These rotational posts are based within The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough which is a busy acute hospital, Redcar and Cleveland community locality, Friarage Hospital Northallerton and Hambleton & Richmond community locality.

These posts offer an excellent opportunity to gain experience into a broad range of specialities.


The acute rotations include, stroke, surgery, neurology, cardiology, general and respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, elderly care, spinal injuries and oncology.

The community rotations include diabetes, enteral feeding, gastroenterology and paediatrics in community clinics, community wards and care homes. You will be involved in the delivery of group education sessions to patients and their carers.


These posts will also be regularly involved in education of other health care professionals, care home staff and support workers.


You will be given supervision and support from experienced Dietitians to enable you to develop your skills and gain experience in specialist areas.

You will be part of the band 5 development package and will undertake a one year preceptorship programme.


We encourage staff to get involved in exploring new ways of working and service developments, with opportunities for CPD along the way.


After a period of 6 months, and following clinical supervisory skills training, you would be fully involved in the training of student Dietitians.


Due to the nature of some of the rotations you will need to be able to travel across the South Tees and Hambleton and Richmondshire localities.

The hospitals have an ideal location within easy reach of the East Coast, North Yorkshire Moors and Scotland.

Accommodation is available on the hospital sites.


South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff to the Trust; this training programme has been designed to support our leaders in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills.

You will be expected to attend the leadership development programme, and the Quality Improvement Programme that the Trust delivers.


This programme aims to:

  • Explore leadership within the NHS
Promote Trust Values and Behaviours

Develop your Leadership effectiveness and skills

Practitioner level in quality improvement, equipping you with the skills to champion, lead and complete quality improvement within your role


After you complete this four and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities, we offer further in-house courses dependent upon your role and bitesize programmes and leadership apprenticeships at level 3,5 and 7.
