An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Apprentice Audiology Practitioner/Assistant Audiologist to join our dynamic Audiology Department which covers Reading, Henley-on-Thames, Wokingham, Bracknell, Newbury and Wallingford.

This is an Assistant Audiology post with opportunity to complete a funded degree in Audiology whilst working in the field.

We offer hearing services in both hospital and community settings across the Berkshire and Oxfordshire area. We provide a comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitation service for both adults and children. We have Balance, Hearing Therapy, Adult Rehabilitation and Paediatric Clinics. We are also affiliated with Reading University and are a Research Site.


This post suits someone with excellent communication skills, a practical and flexible approach to problem-solving and a passion for providing a friendly and professional patient service.

In your role as an Assistant Audiologist you will be supporting the Audiologists in their clinics. As an Apprentice training post you will have time to complete your studies and departmental support in your learning.

Experience is not essential as full in-service training and supervision will be provided. However, we are looking for a well-motivated individual with an enthusiasm to learn. You will enjoy working in a team and have strong people skills and willing to travel across sites.

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest District General Hospitals in the country. The hospital achieved Foundation Trust status on 1st June 2006. It was the first Foundation Trust in the South Central Strategic Health Authority.

  • Job Purpose
  • Undertakes diagnostic audiometric testing on ENT outpatients, and Audiology patients as required.
  • Delivers the Hearing Aid Maintenance and Repair Service.
  • Provide services across the central site, community spokes, on the ward as required. The post holder's main base will be Townlands Memorial Hospital, HenleyuponThames but also with regular clinics in Reading, Royal Berkshire Hospital, especially during training.
  • Support the general operation of the Audiology service as required.
  • Updates own professional knowledge, keeping abreast of new technology and practices.
