About the role


We are recruiting Assessment and Enablement Officers with experience in social care to primarily focus on assessing, supporting and reviewing service users' needs in line with the practices of the social work profession.


You will put the person at the heart of the assessment and involve their families, friends and communities around them to help improve their lives and help them meet their goals.

You will assess, monitor and review the care and support they have; and advise where they can access information, advice and advocacy so that they have the maximum opportunity to regain their independence or become less dependent on other people or services.

To work within the context of an enablement approach thus ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing through access to proportionate help and support.

We currently have vacancies in our Social Care Direct which is a "front door" to Adult Social Services.

Social Care Direct is the first point of contact for all initial enquiries about social care and provides information, advice and care to adults with care and support needs.

The Assessment and Enablement Officer role in Social Care Direct involves rotating between the following functions

  • Answering and processing calls
  • Carrying out case work on allocated cases

About you

  • You will have experience of working in social care, health or the voluntary/community sector; knowledge of relevant social care legislation and guidance and an understanding of protecting and making safe vulnerable adults.
  • You will have excellent interpersonal and IT skills.
  • You will be able to communicate and engage well with adults, carers and their families about assessing and reviewing their needs and risks.
  • At times you will need to be resilient and resourceful and have a desire to learn and work creatively.
