Operating across multiple specialist sites, our client caters for pupils aged 3-19 with PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), ASC (Autistic Spectrum Conditions) and other learning difficulties and associated medical needs.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will be looking to gain experience providing support for young people with additional needs, and be committed to increasing life chances for those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
You will join an established team of class and senior teachers, teaching assistants and an on-site therapy team consisting of physiotherapists, health care staff, and an employability coach.
- Be looking to gain experience in an education or health care setting, and be able to liaise with a large, multidisciplinary team (desirable but not essential)
- Have excellent communication skills and will be responsible for providing feedback to pupils and their parents/carers on a regular basis.
- Be comfortable with personal care and support feeding due to the complexity of pupil needs
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop a happy, safe, and stimulating learning environment which meets pupils' physical, academic, social and emotional needs
- Support young people to develop their confidence, resilience, and independence for life beyond school
- Support teachers in the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum which meets individual needs and prepares pupils for employment and success after their school journey
- Liaise with parents/carers and a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic support for pupils and provide a wide range of experience
