Role Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be a part of our Client Finance Team on a permanent basis.

Working collectively with colleagues from across the adult social care service you will ensure the needs of local vulnerable adults are safeguarded and provide professional advice on matters relating to client finance functions spanning, financial assessment and social care charging.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide guidance and expert advice to social care professionals, other colleagues within client finance / court of protection teams and wider stakeholders such as social care providers and service users or their representatives.
  • Act in the best interest of the service user, coordinate and gather information, and liaise with all relevant stakeholders, to ensure all queries and problems are satisfactorily resolved and that they support informed and robust decisionmaking including preparing, attending & participating in meetings and decisionmaking forums, for example, Reviews, Panels, Case Conferences, or team meetings.
  • Undertake financial assessments for social care customers in a range of settings, gathering and verifying evidence, and liaising with others as required e.g., family members, social care providers, Department for Work and Pensions, Care Managers, whilst ensuring robust records of outcomes and activities are kept updated, ensuring that all financial assessments are completed within their expected timeframes.
  • Supporting with the coordination and delivery of the annual financial assessment uplift for all current recipients of local authority procured care and support services, in line with the annual state benefit increase.
  • To support the Directorate to maximise its income from social care and other related charges.

Preferred Requirements:

To succeed in this role, experience is preferable in:

  • Experience of working within an adult social care environment with a specialism in client finance.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary environments to achieve positive outcomes for vulnerable adults including partnership working with a variety of organisations in the public, private and voluntary sector
  • Experience of prioritising competing demands and meeting conflicting deadlines
  • Experience of completing financial assessments for clients in receipt of social care and support provisions in line with Care Act 2014.
