Job description

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work on the APPRAISE Study.

This is a new project funded by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment programme which aims to develop a new patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) to assess the impact of surgery for prolapse, incontinence or mesh complications on quality of life (QoL).

An assessment of barriers and facilitators to its implementation and use as an outcome measure in clinical effectiveness studies will also be undertaken.

The study is being led by Leeds Beckett University, in collaboration with the University of Sheffield, University of Oxford, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, and Norfolk and Norwich and Epsom and Surrey University Hospitals.


You will have an undergraduate degree and PhD in psychology or in a health-related area, with strong psychometric/statistical skills and experience of using/developing patient-reported outcome measures.

Knowledge/experience of undertaking qualitative research and systematic reviews is also required.

Excellent word processing, IT skills and competency using databases such as SPSS is also required and experience using other databases such as Mplus is desired.


The person appointed must be able to start work on the 1st May 2023 and this post is fixed term until the end of April 2026.
