Following the integration with community service Wandsworth in October 2010, the Trust is now the largest provider of specialist neurorehabilitation services in London.

This includes 42 inpatient beds on 2 sites, outpatient vocational rehabilitation following brain injury, a day patient cognitive rehabilitation programme and a comprehensive spasticity service.

In 2015 The Wolfson Neurological Rehabilitation Centre service (32 beds) moved to a bespoke built modern specialist Neurorehabilitation unit based at QMR.

16 beds remain at St George's Hospital on the Kent Ward and Thomas Young Ward as the hyper acute and acute (level 1a) neurorehabilitation services respectively.

There are plans to open 8 additional beds for Rapid Access to Rehabilitation.

To provide highly specialist clinical neuropsychology input to patients within the rehabilitation Pathway.

This will include neuropsychological assessments, as well as providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy and offering advice and consultation on clients' psychological care to other health professionals and non professional carers.

The post holder will exercise autonomous professional responsibility for clinical decisions, working within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams' policies and procedures.

In liaison with the neurorehabilitation MDT, the post holder will be expected to utilise their knowledge of evidence based psychological interventions and research skills to further develop neuropsychology and clinical psychology input to these services.

The post holder will also be expected to identify and implement audit and research projects within the area served by the team/service.

The post holder will be involved in the training, continuing professional development and supervision of trainee clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists and other health professionals.

This is a bank position with variable hours.


St George's Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest healthcare units in the United Kingdom accommodating around 1170 beds and treating around 89,000 inpatient and day cases, and over 448,000 outpatients annually.


The Trust is on three sites, St George's Hospital, the base for acute general medicine and surgical services,Queen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton(QMR), and St John's Therapy Centre, Wandsworth.

The Trust serves a resident population of about 300,000 and serves two local Primary Care Trusts, Wandsworth and Sutton & Merton which have a total population of approximately 600,000 between them.


As well as acute hospital services, we provide a wide variety of specialist and community hospital based care and a full range of community services to children, adults, older people and people with learning disabilities.

These services are provided fromQueen Mary's Hospital, Roehampton(QMR), 11 health centres and clinics, schools and nurseries, patients' homes and Wandsworth Prison.


  • To provide highly specialist neuropsychological and psychological assessments of clients with acquired neurological disorders referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of highly complexdata from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
  • To administer a range of highly specialised neuropsychological and psychometric tests assessing a range of cognitive functions (eg. intelligence and problem-solving, memory, language, visuospatial and executive abilities); setting up and manipulating test materials, some involving fine motor dexterity; conducting prolonged observations of patients' cognitive abilities, emotional state and behaviour during neuropsychological examinations and recording assessment results.
  • To formulate and implement plans for the formal neuropsychological and psychological treatment and/or management of a client's neuropsychological and mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
  • To be responsible for implementing a range of neuropsychological and psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis, adjusting and refining neuropsychological and psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
  • To evaluate and make decisions about neurorehabilitation and treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning illness, historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
