West Sussex MBT/AD facility.

This is a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

A quick look at the role.

  • Ensure health and safety of all the staff on shift with a target of zero accidents & LTI's.
  • 95% adherence to Club Zero for all staff.
  • Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported immediately.
  • Drive site KPI's daily through engineering and operations teams: availability, efficiency, throughput, end products, etc
  • Develop, train and share knowledge with staff in order to improve skills
  • Ensure housekeeping is maintained to high standards
  • Ensure all holidays are booked in advance as per company policy.

The Biffa division you'll be supporting.

Resources & Energy is a significant provider of renewable energy with 80.4MW of installed energy generation capacity. The Energy division comprises the group's energy production operations generating gas from landfill and from food wastevia Anaerobic Digestion (AD).


Anaerobic Digestionconsists of three AD Facilities, two owned (Poplars and Leicester) and one operated on behalf of West Sussex County Council generate electricity from food waste. We have an overall anaerobic digestion (AD) capacity ofover 300ktpa (Kilo-Tonnes Per Annum) across this division. The electricity is exported to private customers or the National grid.


Why it's an opportunity not to be wasted.

  • Provide high operational availability, and an efficient breakdown repair service through diagnosis running faults and ensuring effective repairs and improvements are conducted within minimum timescales.
  • Carry out installation work to the required standards.
  • Ensure productivity and availability exceeds minimum defined standards, whilst driving best practice and continuous improvement in cost control and processing operations.
  • Develop and implement a programme of planned preventative maintenance and inspection to minimise downtime, provide records of recurrent faulting and develop engineered solutions to these issues.
  • To liaise with external contractors on specific repairs/maintenance work.
  • Keep abreast of changes to Health & Safety, Environmental Legislation and Company Policies to ensure defined standards and best practices are implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with all Company policies, processes and procedures.
  • Review maintenance activities, implementing necessary corrective actions as required.
  • To carry out any other such reasonable job related tasks as the Company may require.
  • Work alongside the Mechanical Technician to drive the engineering team in line with Shift Supervisor and pursue daily engineering issues that affect production and plant availability.

Requirements:


Here's what we require:


  • Engineering Qualification Level 2/3 City and Guilds / NVQ
  • Previous health and safety training, IOSH, NEBOSH
  • Does not need to be in date but proof of experience.
  • Able to read engineering drawings, identify and use hand tools, change bearings, track conveyors, sound understanding of mechanical principles, welding, grinding, fixing equipment and making it work.
