Production Leader

Hours:

7:00am to 15:30pm Monday to Thursday with 1 x 30 minute lunch break

7:00 to 15:00 Friday

(39.5 hours per week)


Overall objectives are to achieve production output to the correct quantity, times and quality by:

  • Acting as first line management of the production area.
  • Ensuring high levels of health and safety as well as housekeeping and cleanliness are maintained on the shop floor, including regular routine safety and housekeeping checks on equipment and the working area.
  • Leading production staff in their day to day operations to ensure the highest quality is maintained including ensuring relevant QA checks are carried out and recorded by the team.
  • Working with the Production Supervisor to establish the training needs and requirements of production operatives. Training staff in the required skills to successfully fulfil their duties and motivating and coaching them to achieve a positive teamwork environment.
  • Assisting the Production Supervisor in ensuring the correct manpower is assigned to each work centre to meet production demands.
  • Noting and reporting staff absences to the Production Supervisor.
  • Carrying out return to work interviews, if necessary in conjunction with the Production Supervisor.
  • Administering the company disciplinary procedures as required.
  • Assisting in liaising with their other site staff on quality, shortage and other relevant manufacturing issues.
  • Coordinating with stores personnel in feeding the correct materials for efficient job changeovers of the production cells.
  • Supporting the stores team to ensure all required parts are in the necessary production locations whilst assisting in stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Providing cover to stores department personnel as and when required.
  • Supporting and on occasions covering for the Production Supervisor as and when required.
  • Fulfilling other tasks and duties that may arise from time to time.
  • Good supervisory experience of controlling a team of up to 25 staff
  • A selfstarter who can demonstrate leadership qualities, an ability to manage and delegate to staff
  • Good time management.
  • Experience and ability to also carry out a 'hands on' shop floor role if the need arises.
  • Proven ability to follow policies, procedures and instructions to achieve the business objectives
  • A counterbalance FLT license would be an advantage

Salary:

£12.50 to £14 per hour dependent on experience.

Relevant training will be provided where necessary
