The
Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will join a small, dedicated team, with cradle-to-grave involvement in projects. The successful
Senior Mechanical Engineer needs to have strong experience using Solidworks ideally.


Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Use SolidWorks to design, special purpose machinery and various other components.
  • Producing design and detail manufacturing drawings and documentation.
  • Gain a full understanding of product requirements and manage expectations.
  • Regular communication and project reviews with the team.
  • Work to a project plan with agreed deadlines producing innovative solutions.
  • Solving complex engineering problems.
  • Hands on development and build of the initial prototype machine.
  • Work in the workshop, Laboratory and be involved with systems testing.
  • Working away from home may be required from time to time.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer should have the following Qualifications Skills or Experience:

  • Qualified to degree level (HND with relevant experience) within Mechanical Engineering.
  • Postgraduate experience working in a similar engineering design role.
  • Good working knowledge of SolidWorks CAD packages would be preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing products from initial brief to a fully working product.
  • Knowledge of Design to cost / Budget control detail drafting and checking.
  • Experience performing tolerance analysis to ensure high quality robust designs.
  • Design of mechanical systems and components using tools such as FMEA.
  • Hand calculations and or FEA using SolidWorks Simulation.
  • Good knowledge of Special Purpose Machinery, mechanisms, systems and automation.
  • Understanding of Risk Assessments and CE marking standards.
  • Experience designing large sheet metal assemblies would be advantageous.
