Description
Porterbrook specialises in the leasing and asset management of all types of railway rolling stock and associated equipment.

Based in Derby with a corporate Head Office in London and its new Rail Innovation Centre at Long Marston, the organisation is undertaking a period of transformational change as it responds to the changing landscape in rail.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety of all movements of moving rail vehicles in and out of the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre
  • To provide light maintenance activities associated with the storage of vehicles as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Observe and adhere to site procedures and all aspects of Health & Safety at all times, in particular those procedures around the movement of fleet around the site and track
  • Conduct daily checks of the stored fleet and report any defects and / or damage
  • To support the movement of assets around the site on behalf of customers and tenants
  • To provide light maintenance as required on assets as directed by the Operations Manager
  • Complete associated documentation in respect of the laid down processes and procedures on site
  • Carry out shunting duties in line with the defined procures in a safe and controlled manner and any relevant maintenance and safety checks required by the shunters
  • Ensure all working areas are kept in a clean and safe condition

Skills and Experience

General Requirements:
Responsible for controlling the safe and efficient movements of rail vehicles at the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre.


Qualifications:

  • Fully competent in shunting and the operational movement of rail vehicles

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations
  • Broad knowledge and experience of working with rolling stock
  • Experience of working in a similar role

Key Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Mechanical and practical skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Capable of taking ownership and responsibility
