The Electoral Commission is the independent body which oversees elections and regulates political finance in the UK. It works to promote public confidence in the democratic process and to ensure its integrity.
Communications Officer - The Role:
We are looking for a proactive and engaged public affairs and communications professional to help raise the profile of the Electoral Commission and deliver a high-quality public affairs and communications service.
You will support the public affairs team and the wider external communications team, to provide colleagues with advice and insight.
You will be responsible for responding to stakeholder enquiries and correspondence, monitoring parliamentary activity, briefing colleagues and supporting the delivery of parliamentary engagement.
We want to see improvements made to voter registration, the rules governing digital campaigning, electoral fraud prevention, and the accessibility of elections.
You will join the team making the case for these vital changes to the political and electoral systems.Communications Officer - You:
- You will have the ability research, analyse and summarise complex material for senior colleagues and external stakeholders
- You will have the ability to use a wide range of communications techniques
- You will bring creativity and wellhoned communications skills to our influencing and engagement work
- You will be comfortable working in a fastpaced environment, as part of a collaborative and dynamic team
- You will have a good understanding of parliamentary process, and knowledge of processes in Whitehall and the devolved legislatures
- An excellent communicator, you will provide support across the external communications team with the ability to write to a highstandard and have strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
