If you have a keen eye for livestock and a passion for calves and their welfare then this is your chance to join a large, modern family dairy farm in Wiltshire (Nr Trowbridge) that shares your outlook.

The farm has 740 dairy cows plus followers, operating on an all-year round calving system (with proactive grazing throughout the season) and milking twice a day through a 50-point rotary parlour.

We calve all year round, so have around 55 dairy heifers and 50 beef calves to look after on a daily basis.

We weigh our dairy heifers 4 times in the first 9 weeks, this ensures we are maintaining our growth rates KPI, and ensuring individual calves can be checked if they are meeting target growth rates.

The Role

Reporting to the Dairy Manager or Farm owner, the daily routine will entail working in the calf unit, including feeding calves, bedding up, administering drugs and calf husbandry.

With potential to manage the calf unit, which would involve planning the jobs for the week for yourself and jobs for staff on your day off, checking KPI growth rates are being met and working for the dairy manager/farm owner to continually improve the calf unit.

Salary
- £26,000 to £36,000 pa depending upon experience and aptitude
