Are you ready to make a real difference to mental health services in South West London?


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced manager to develop their career, managing a portfolio of operational change and improvement projects across our specialist service line.

You will be instrumental in leading operational process improvement to deliver excellent patient care, while supporting our staff to work as effectively as possible.

We need to reduce variation in our ways of working to ensure we have consistent, high quality services.

This role will work closely with our service line leads and clinicians to identify, map, plan and deliver improvements to service pathways and processes in a range of areas, and to share these across clinical services.

There will be a focus on quality improvement, productivity, data, and the digital developments accelerated during the Covid pandemic, as key enablers for this change.


Mental health services are at the core of our ambitions within the South West London Integrated Care System, with commitment from the system to invest in improving mental health, particularly in these challenging times.


We are looking for someone who is ready to step up to a more senior, cross-cutting management role, reporting into the specialist service line management team and working across a number of boroughs and different service areas.

Experience of healthcare service management and delivery, as well as the organisation, project planning and delivery of change and improvement, are essential to this role.


You will be positive and self-motivated as well as able to enthuse and bring others with you, creating constructive and sustainable change in partnership with clinical teams.

You will be expected to work closely with the senior management team, finance and strategy colleagues in a matrix structure to support the development and delivery of effective operational improvement projects, while putting patients at the heart of our improvements.

About our locations:

Springfield University Hospital, Tooting


Our largest, 19-ward site is in Springfield Village, created following our £150m investment into two new world class mental health facilities.

A 32-acre public park, shops and cafes are coming soon.

Close to shops, cafes and Tooting Bec on the Northern Line plus Earlsfield and Tooting rail stations and bus routes.


The post holder will manage the development and delivery of a portfolio of change and improvement projects, including to deal with rising MH demand and to deliver sustainable services and cost improvement programmes.

This will include both operational improvement initiatives, and input into the Trust's overall Clinical Transformation Programme, as well as the Trust's Financial sustainability programme.


Experience of service management and the delivery of community mental health services, as well as the organisation, planning and delivery of change and improvement, are essential to this role.

The post holder will also need strong engagement skills to ensure positive commitment from colleagues across the Service Lines and Corporate areas, and excellent structure and energy to support achieving the required improvement in a timely and measurable way.

Project Management skills will be required as well as a good understanding of cost improvement programmes and achieving financial improvement.


Key areas of achievement for the postholder include:

  • Working closely with the senior management team, supporting the development of effective operational improvement projects and structuring and progressing their delivery.
  • Embedding sustainable changes in operational and clinical pathways within the Service Lines by influencing and supporting clinical teams to define and adopt best practice pathways. Using data and analysis to support pathway definition and
