As an Associate, you will be expected to:

  • Contribute to the delivery of policy projects and analysis, independently and as part of a team. You'll also need to draft briefings to explain complex issues, often within tight timeframes
  • Work as part of multi-disciplinary project teams, building relationships with policy, economist, legal and communications colleagues, delivering high quality work
  • Liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders, including firms, government, other regulators, and consumer groups, to gather evidence, test policy options and explain our approach
  • Present policy recommendations to PSR leadership
Purpose of the role


This is an exciting new central role giving you sight of the breadth of work across the organisation and providing invaluable insights to our Executive and Board.


You will lead on risk management in the PSR, providing second line of defence (2LoD) challenge and assurance on risks captured across the PSR.

You will evolve and maintain risk management products and processes to ensure that they remain fit for purpose.


You will lead on risk-related communications and engagement across the organisation as well as risk reporting including to the Executive, Audit Committee and Board Risk Committee.

This role requires a significant amount of stakeholder engagement.

You will be responsible for overseeing and reporting on open internal audit actions, liaising with the business and Internal Audit to ensure that actions are managed well.

This role also acts as deputy for the Operations manager and will have some direct line management responsibilities.

What will the role involve- Ensure that PSR risks are recorded, rated and managed consistently in a timely way, providing challenge and assurance across the organisation- Ownership of risk reporting at all levels of the organisation, evolving current reports and introducing new reports where gaps are identified- Ownership of risk-related content for our key corporate external publications on our Annual Plan and Annual Report and Accounts- Ownership or risk management processes and controls, ensuring that they remain fit for purpose- Ownership of the articulation of the control environment, including gap analysis to identify where controls are missing or could be strengthened- Ownership of corporate risk products, including the Risk Management Framework, Appetite, guidance and intranet content- Lead on the co-ordination with our Strategy division on monitoring, recording and reporting on external risks- Chairing of our regular organisational risk forum, bringing key contacts together across the organisation- Oversight and management of Internal Audit actions, including reporting and coaching action owners to complete on time- Managing the relationship between the PSR and FCA teams in Internal Audit and Risk and Compliance- Line management of Associates in the Operations Division- Deputy to the Operations Manager for key meetings and providing cover at times of absence
