Description

The Department of Physics offers an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Accountant to join its established finance team at a crucial milestone in its history: the completion and migration to the state-of-the-art facility, the Ray Dolby Centre.

The completion is scheduled for the end of 2023, with anticipated occupancy taking place in early 2024.

This role offers an excellent chance for a strong team player to utilise their skills and actively participate in assisting the Finance Manager in further developing the Finance teams and processes, as the department undergoes a period of operational change.

As the Departmental Finance Advisor, your responsibilities will encompass a range of financial management tasks, including budget monitoring, variance analysis, financial planning and forecasting activities, continuous development and implementation of accounting and financial procedures, overseeing fixed assets, committee-servicing, as well as undertaking high-level problem-solving and project work.

You will be proactive in responding to demands and identifying potential problem areas, suggesting corrective actions as applicable.

Collaboration will be a key aspect, as you'll be working with staff at all levels across the Department and the University.

Additionally, you should have the ability to develop and support colleagues with supervisory responsibilities, preferably in an academic context. While being a strong team player, you'll also have the capability to work independently.

Interviews will be held on 27th September 2023.

The University has a responsibility to ensure that all employees are eligible to live and work in the UK.
