Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Sports Instructor to deliver sports/exercise related interventions on an individual and group basis to patients across the Adult Mental Health wards at Highbury Hospital, Bulwell and at our new hospital site Sherwood Oaks Hospital in Mansfield.

Travel between the two sites will be expected.

Interventions will include supporting patients with accessing and increasing their physical activity across the wards and devising personalised gym programmes.

You will have a gym instructor or equivalent qualifications in sport/exercise coaching plus GCSE/ GCE or equivalent in Maths and English.

You will also have a knowledge of a range of sporting activities.

You will be a team player and have skills in motivating others and experience in working in a healthcare setting.

You will need to have good communication and negotiation skills, some experience of group and individual planning and delivery and be able to work independently and be highly adaptable.

To provide gym access, physical activity and sports to the Adult Mental Health (AMH) service user group.

To lead on the provision of physical activity and safe access to the gym under the direction of the OT Leads and AHP Team.

To develop opportunity for care pathways from the hospital setting into mainstream physical activity and sporting opportunities.

To educate and supervise unqualified staff in supervising the use of the hospital gym equipment and gym programmes devised by the sports instructor.

To be a team member contributing to the overall activity and treatment programme delivered to service users in AMH Inpatients.

Please note that this post may not meet the pay and skill level required for a Skilled worker visa

Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change.

This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa and also does not appear on the shortage occupation list for healthcare and education.

In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
