The EIP service within Hywel Dda is set to see several changes in our service delivery over the coming year including an expansion of our age range from 14 up to 35 years.

We are utilising skills for the development and management of individuals receiving support for the management of Psychotic illness which include the principles of medication management, case management, developing psychological therapeutic links with individuals and their families.

Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIP) services help young people with a first episode of psychosis (FEP) in their recovery and to gain a good quality of life.

Not providing these services significantly impacts on an individual's chance of recovery and increases the likelihood of them developing a lifelong illness.

It is therefore critical that people who, given the right support, have the opportunity to achieve a good quality of life and play a meaningful role in society.


We positively link with third sector providers in relation to utilising and established IPS model for service users to seek opportunities for training and employment support.


Hywel Dda University Health Board is committed to providing ongoing training for staff in line with the development of our services and staff can access training course that become available which support our individual service users such as Behavioural family intervention, psychological interventions including CBT and CBT principles.

Are you an Early Intervention in Psychosis Practitioner. We have an exciting Post available within Hywel Dda UHB Early intervention in Psychosis team.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our established service in the management and support of individuals experiencing First episode in Psychosis or are determined as being in at risk mental state.

We are looking for experienced mental health qualified staff to become EIP Practitioners/ Care Co-ordinators.

We have two full and/or part time posts available for Band 6 Practitioners to work within the EIP service.


The posts available will be covering Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire areas but this may need to be flexible at times to cover other areas of Hywel Dda Health Board when needed.


As a service EIP work with reduced case load numbers in an assertive and intensive manner to establish rapport with individual and their families.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.

Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales.

We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:


  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest;
  • Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire;
  • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
  • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
  • Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
