RDA National Office (Lowlands Equestrian Centre, Warwickshire)

Hours:
Part time - 15 hours a week


Contract Type:

Salary:
£30,000 FTE, Actual Salary £15,000 per annum


About the Role


RDA is the only major charity whose core focus is the therapeutic benefits of bringing disabled people and people with long term health conditions and horses together.

Our activities are recommended by Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, and the majority of our participants are referred to RDA by a medical professional.


Our aim is to broaden our reach of participants to ensure that all individuals who could benefit from participating in activities with RDA have access to our offering, especially those from groups who are currently underrepresented.


Role Purpose


This role will work alongside the wider Participation Team to understand, advise and advocate for all current and potential participants from marginalised communities and to continually increase our impact for participants.


The role holder will work closely with the Disability Equalities Lead to ensure that our activities are fully inclusive to anyone who has a disability, regardless of their age, background, disability, sex, sexual orientation, race or ethnicity, religion or belief or gender identity and in doing so, encourage participants from all groups with a view to maximising our impact on underrepresented communities.


Specific Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation

a) The role holder will work collaboratively with the Head of Participation and the wider Participation Team to support the development and implementation of a comprehensive Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and plan that aligns with RDA's values, goals and aspirations

b) The specific focus of this role will be to ensure that the strategy is inclusive to all participants and that action plans are developed to ensure that underrepresented groups are targeted for inclusion in RDA activities

c) Understanding, influencing the barriers to entry for underrepresented disabled groups

Equalities Advocacy

b) To provide advice and guidance on inclusivity to RDA employees, groups, volunteers, and National Lead Volunteers and serve as a point of contact for employees to address concerns related to inclusion

c) Act as an advocate for all current participants to ensure that their voices are heard and that programmes are developed to meet and develop their aspirations

d) Build strategic partnerships with other charities, advocates, agencies and support networks for underrepresented groups to draw on their expertise in developing programmes that offer appropriate interventions to participants

e) Work with the Coaching and Equine Teams, Groups and National Lead Volunteers to ensure that the needs of group and individual participants are catered for in the venues, facilities and equipment provided and the equine that they will work with

Impact

a) Develop and maintain qualitative and quantitative ED&I data to measure the impact of our offerings

b) Direct the future focus for participant growth to ensure greater impact in relation to both the communities we serve and our depth of impact within our participant base

c) Propose and develop, services and programmes to better serve existing and new participants to strengthen and deepen the impact of their participation in RDA activities

Awareness, Education and Training

a)

Education:
Develop and deliver information and training programs to educate Groups, employees and volunteers to foster awareness and sensitivity around Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

b)

Participants:
Develop opportunities both informal and formal learning and development programmes and pathways for participants with the potential for providing accreditation for development undertaken

c)

Support Network:
to be the RDA lead representative with relevant national bodies, steering groups and expert panels promoting RDA and advocating for positive change

Policy and Procedure Enhancement

a) Provide advice and guidance throughout the RDA network to ensure that RDA policies and procedures are inclusive and equitable

b) Stay up to date with current trends and developments in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in promoting the adaptation of our strategies accordingly

c) Promote cultural sensitivity and awareness throughout the Charity

Partnerships and Collaboration

a) Collaborate with internal departments and external organisations to share best practice and influence the development of programs and resources

b) Develop and lead steering groups and committees

c) Participate in community events, taking the opportunity to raise the profile of RDA and feed into any forums as an advocate for RDA participants


General
