First Achieve Recruitment have a fantastic opportunity for a Software Engineer, in the Edinburgh region.

You will be working within a prestigious company, who have been established since the 1800's, they have state-of-the-art facilities & are heavily involvedin Global Manufacturing.


The role will be paying in the region of £35,000 - £48,000 per annum.
You will primarily be responsible for developing software for control panels.


Working within the design team, the role will cover all aspects of the software development lifecycle from initial concept through to in service maintenance.


Role Description:


  • Write and test PLC code
  • Create and test HMI software
  • Create software technical documentation (specifications, quality, verification & validation, etc)
  • Integrate software components with hardware / systems
  • Contribute to and review control system concept designs
  • Develop existing software products by analysing and identifying areas for modification
  • Maintain systems by troubleshooting, debugging and correcting software defects
  • Comply with client specifications, engineering standards, relevant legislation and company procedures
  • Software configuration control
  • Provide support to the bid team by estimating development and test costs
  • Be degree educated in Software Engineering or relevant Apprenticeship with HNC.
  • Have previous experience of full PLC software development lifecycle.
  • Have experience of developing software test strategies and plans.
  • Have experience of writing software technical specifications and documentation.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully delivering software development projects to required timescale and budget.
  • Be proficient in the use of MS Office products.
  • Have Knowledge of related standards.
  • Be able to work on your own or as part of a team.
  • Have selfdiscipline, motivation, the ability to organise your workload and overcome problems as they arise.
