We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Band 4 Technical Instructor to work with our Rehabilitation and Recovery Services within the first-of-its-kind "Life Rooms", within a High Secure Hospital in Maghull Health Park, Liverpool.


We are keen to hear from individuals with a passion for the delivery of educational and vocational-based skills, knowledge and qualifications to enhance the Life Rooms offer.

Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust specialises in providing high-quality care to individuals with Learning Disability and Mental Health problems.

The Secure and Specialist Learning Disability Division have a number of Forensic and Enhanced Support services that include High Secure, Medium Secure, Low Secure, Step Down and Enhanced beds based within inpatient services or in the community.

We also have a dedicated Specialist Support Team that provides support in the community.


We are looking for a Technical Instructor to work with service users to support them in accessing education, vocational and recovery-based opportunities in the Life Rooms.

Someone who can demonstrate compassion and empathy to our service users, improving the quality of care services within a Secure/Forensic Environment.


It is essential that you are enthusiastic, passionate, adaptable and highly motivated, with a keen interest in working in mental health and learning disabilities in forensic services.

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a fast-paced and challenging environment and be involved in the ongoing development of the Rehabilitation and Recovery provision.

Your role will include working in the Life Rooms as well as provide an outreach provision on wards.


You will actively engage service users in therapeutic activities to promote physical health, mental health and well-being within the high secure hospital environment.

The post holder will support service users to attend and participate in sessions that enable recovery through attendance to the Life Rooms department and take lead on planning and facilitating sessions.


You will be part of an established multidisciplinary team, as well as receiving support, direction and supervision from senior members of the Rehabilitation and Recovery Services.

The service operates with a strong focus on multidisciplinary team working and the utilisation of all staff in delivering integrated therapy over the 24 hour period.
