The Property & Commercial Team, which is part of the wider corporate Legal Services function, provides legal advice and support to all of the Council's Directorates, as well as Hull Culture and Leisure Limited, the Humber Bridge Board and HEY LEP inclusive of procurement and contracts for their supplies, services and works, company and charity law advice as well as property transactions.

The Team also provides a comprehensive service in relation to the Council's capital projects advising on matters from the initial grant agreement terms and conditions to the associated UK Subsidy Rules, procurement of relevant developer partners through to advising on the acquisition of land and development of sites.

The Legal Services team has an excellent record for professional staff development in both legal and management disciplines both for those at the start of their careers and experienced legal personnel seeking new challenges.

A number of our current officers have trained and qualified as Solicitors and Legal Executives whilst in the Service and we have regularly offered Training Contracts to suitably qualified and experienced staff.

We also strongly support Apprenticeships as a route to obtaining professional qualifications and promotion.

The Council provides a range of benefits to motivate, reward and recognise the valuable work of its officers.

This includes flexible working policies to help balance home life with work commitments, generous annual leave, and an excellent defined benefit pension scheme.

Hull is a port and popular university city in Yorkshire with a long history as a centre of free thinking and bold ideas, culminating in UK City of Culture 2017.

Culture continues to flourish alongside an increasing café culture and leisure offer in the city centre. Hull is also leading the UK renewables sector with over £700m being invested regionally through Siemens. Able, ABP and the development of Greenport Hull.

Property prices in the area are well below national averages.

There are new city centre living opportunities, particularly in the attractive old town and marina areas as well as wide ranging easy commuter options in the suburbs and surrounding towns and villages.

Hull is a short distance by road and rail from the lovely market town of Beverley, regularly cited in national publications as being one of the best places to live in both in both the North and in the UK and is also within commuting distance of the historic city of York.

To complement an excellent work-life balance, Hull is located on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds with attractive coastline easily accessible.

The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is just over an hour drive away with the Peak District National Park also within easy reach.

You will find a friendly welcome and a great quality of life here for you and your family.
