Who will I be supporting?

  • You will be supporting people with mild learning disabilities and autism, to live their lives as independently as possible
  • In Kirkstall, we currently support three people within their own flats in the same building, and we also provide outreach support to people living independently in the community
  • One of the people we support is extremely creative and loves to spend time building models and creating things. His interests lie in things like Lego, Warhammer, Star Trek, You Tube, gaming, collections, Buying/Selling, Crafts. He can struggle to find the confidence to go out to new places and needs support to ensure he is getting out and about more. He has a great sense of humour and is enjoyable to be around however does need support to bring this side of him out more as he can be prone to feeling down and speaking negatively. He requires support to maintain his health and wellbeing and manage relationships
What will I be doing?

  • They would like support to live their lives how they choose, to be themselves and to achieve their goals
  • They would also like support with their personal care (prompting only), medication, food shopping, paying bills, and domestic tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry
  • Some of the people we support at Kirkstall can experience behaviours of distress and they may need support building and maintaining relationships with others, including their support team, family members, friends, and partners, so you'll be providing emotional reassurance and positive behaviour support in a personcentred way full training will be provided
What shifts are available?

  • Day shifts
  • Long shifts with sleepovers (24hrs)
  • A share of weekends that are split equally between the team
  • We're looking for people with flexibility to work on a rota basis that includes a combination of these shifts across weekdays and weekends
  • Rotas are provided at least 4 weeks in advance to support a healthy work life balance something we're very passionate about
