The Purpose of the Role


The Early Careers Development Lead is responsible for design, coordination, administration and delivery of early career programmes for Post Office.

This role will lead the design and delivery of the graduate scheme, working with key stakeholders in the businessto ensure it aligns to the strategic priorities and will play a critical role in supporting graduates on their learning and development journey to realise their full potential.


In collaboration with the wider People team, the Early Career Development Lead will be responsible for the apprenticeship offering, this will include, ensuring a planned pipeline of apprenticeship roles that support delivery of the business strategic priorities,maximizing the apprenticeship levy, ensuring new learning opportunities are identified, communicated, deployed and tracked.


Principal Accountabilities

Graduate Scheme

  • Responsible for the full timeline, effective deployment and operations of graduate programme, this will include coordinating group activity, administration of the placement process, information databases, engagement of the group, stakeholder engagementand maximising the return on investment
  • To champion graduate development and provide support on their learning, career and development journey
  • To act as mentor/coach to Graduates, understanding their skillset and aligning to placements
  • Support the appropriate HR Lead with the management and administration of the Graduate recruitment process, this will include working with suppliers and supporting the setup of assessment days.
  • To be aware of key trends in marketplace, identifying and recommending continuous improvement initiatives
  • Design, implement and manage an Early Careers website

Apprenticeships

  • Responsible for operations of the Apprenticeship Programme including, stakeholder engagement and management, maximizing the return on the Apprenticeship Levy and working with Heads of People on strategic workforce planning to identify pipeline of apprenticeshiproles
  • Responsible for apprenticeship satisfaction, completion rate and all associated MI
  • Manage the relationship with external training providers to deliver apprentice programmes across the employee network
  • Develop and maintain a database of expression of interest
  • Manage the Apprenticeship digital service online platform to ensure all information is current and up to date
  • Establish and embed feedback loops and use this feedback to continually evolve and improve the Apprenticeship programmes
  • Liaise with the People Partners to ensure that the apprenticeship programmes have their alignment and buy in ahead of implementation
  • Support the appropriate People Partners with the administration of Apprenticeship recruitment where required
  • To design and lead the internal and external promotion of the apprenticeship offering and link to the Early Career website

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Knowledge required

  • Knowledge of the wider social, commercial, political and regulated environment in which Post Office Ltd operates
  • Best practice and industry trends in learning and development with an understanding of how to design, land and manage solutions in a large, complex organisation
  • Experience required
  • Experience in managing & knowledge of entry level talent programme operations e.g. Graduate and Apprenticeship Programmes
  • Knowledge and experience of managing the Apprenticeship Levy coupled with of latest insights, best practice & innovation and advancements
  • Prior experience of managing third party suppliers e.g. procurement and contracting
  • Proven ability of supporting a business wide training programme and demonstrate tangible success measures
  • Proven experience of engaging, communicating and collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders
