Job Description:
We are looking for a Power Market Associate to join Wood Mackenzie's Power and Renewables Research team in Europe, working on our EPSI platform - a market leading fundamental power market model for Europe, allowing users to analyse power market dynamics from day ahead trading through to longer term strategic decisions spanning decades.
The Power and Renewables Research Team forms part of our Energy Transition Practice and is a highly respected group of analysts producing market-leading research on the entire renewable energy value chain, covering solar PV, onshore and offshore wind, energy storage and power markets.
Our cutting-edge knowledge of power market dynamics further strengthens Wood Mackenzie's offerings in the market during this rapidly changing time in the energy sector.
Main Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include
- Ensuring that model input data across Europe is of the highest quality, reliable and up to date
- Responsibilities for scenario modelling (building scenarios, data feeding, backtesting, etc.
- Suggesting enhancements to the EPSI platform's functionality in terms of methodology, usability, speed and data quality.
- Supporting the sales team to build trust with prospects through meetings, product demonstrations, and webinars.
- Managing client enquiries, contributing to daytoday client training and supporting clients to gain maximum benefit from EPSI
- Support the ongoing development of Wood Mackenzie's European power research offering, and the expansion of EPSI into other regions
Qualifications:
- You have an interest in the energy transition, and power markets in particular this is an entry level position, but any experience of energy markets through work or academic study would be beneficial.
- You have strong analytical skills, a curious mindset and an eye for detail. You have a strong understanding of data sources used to support models and are experienced in deploying quality control measures when using such data.
- You're a strong team player and show creativity in finding alternative solutions. You enjoy interacting with market participants and clients, and you're able to distil client requirements into clear solutions within the EPSI platform. You're an effective communicator with clients and with key internal stakeholders.
- You're a proficient Microsoft Excel user, while experience of any of the following would be beneficial: Python, PowerBI, R, VBA, SQL, machine learning.
