As Lead Modeller, you will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing a modelling environment to drive SEFE's long-term understanding of European and Global energy markets that aligns with our commitment to supporting a stable and sustainable energy transformation.

What you will do?


As Principal/Lead Modeller, Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and Macro Analytics (MA), you will be responsible for developing modelling solutions and methodologies that ensure SEFE is well-positioned to make informed portfolio decisions, enabling us to compete effectively in a dynamic and uncertain market.

You will be part of a small multifunctional team, working closely with MA colleagues focussed on European and Global Gas and LNG, Asian Energy, and Global Hydrogen and wider Energy Transition markets.


From operational issues to systemic shifts, financial risks to commodity cycle challenges, this role requires the holder to understand, assess and communicate risks, opportunities and solutions that inform and support SEFE's long-term transactions.

What you'll bring to the role?

Your previous experience in energy markets will have given you a long-term perspective, while understanding the need to ensure medium
- and long-term analysis reflects dynamic market changes in the shorter term.


Curious and passionate, with a mindset for continuous improvement, you will have strong project management experience and a collaborative outlook, allowing you to engage across different teams and functions with ease to exploit cross-team capabilities and to drive forward project deliverables, using your interpersonal skills to get support and buy-in from colleagues at all levels.

Your statistical mindset and passion for data will be key to executing the development of our advanced long-term analytics capabilities.


Core aspects of your role will include:

  • Act as the centre of knowledge for Macro modelling, long-term forecasting
  • Determine modelling approaches/techniques, and market level and regional data points, parameters and key assumptions with MA colleagues
  • Proactively identify and onboard relevant traditional and nontraditional market and macroeconomic data sources (developing relevant business cases as needed)
  • Develop and maintain appropriate methodology and process documentation
  • Develop and maintain longterm demand/supply models
  • Develop and maintain longterm price curves
  • Facilitate capture of clean market and macroeconomics data including development, where appropriate, of automated ETL processes
  • Work with other teams (e.g., IT, Trading analytics, TEDI) to ensure that acquired market data is not siloed and is available to wider organisation (on SSoT basis)
  • Proactively look for opportunities to make processes and procedures more efficient
  • Proactively look for opportunities to automate, digitise and introduce datadriven solutions to (internal and external)

Ways-of-Working, commercial and operational processes Regular tasks:

  • Ensure that demand/supply and pricing curves are continuously updated and reflect all latest available data
  • Ensure all MA models balance and are consistent across locations and various time horizons
  • Develop and run scenario and stress testing using latest macro assumptions
  • Secure best available (relevant to the use case) market data trough intraorganisational collaboration or from external sources
  • Provide proactive and timely communication of Macro outlook updates and be responsible for ensuring Group's alignment on the longterm macro vision
  • Capture and, where appropriate, disseminate (organisationwide) market data
  • Actively seek external peerreviews and general ways to improve team's macroeconomic skills and capabilities
  • Collaborate with other teams, such as trading, analytics and regulatory affairs to collect and share relevant market information
  • Continuously analyse relevant market and macroeconomic data and regulatory developments to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Support adhoc analyses and research projects to support Portfolio Management and wider group initiatives
  • Attend relevant industry events (incl. represent SEFE) to peertest inhouse forecasts, source new information and insights, and learn about general macroeconomic developments (e.g., new modelling techniques)
  • Proactively share demand/supply updates and other main conclusion with relevant parties (incl. CEO, CCO, CSO strategy teams) to ensure Group's longterm Macro vision alignment
