Description
The Commercial and Technical Estimator is responsible for executing the commercial price calculations for new RFQ's and current assemblies.

They will review, interpret, and calculate pricing against customer BoM and schematic information to allow the creation of a commercial sales proposal.


The Commercial and Technical Estimator is also responsible for maintaining a database of suppliers and brands, categories, and product types for inclusion on requests for quotation (RFQ).

Health and Safety Requirements

Responsible for the well-being and Health and Safety of all team members to include;

  • Comply with risk assessments and safe working procedures
  • Report observed risks, accidents, and Near Miss events as soon as possible
  • Monitoring of the delivery, storage, transportation, and use of hazardous substances within their areas of responsibility
  • Attend any required Health and Safety or working procedures training and undertake tasks/activities in a safe manner
  • Ensure familiarity and compliance with the site emergency and incident reporting procedures
Key Objectives / Accountability

  • Accountable for the review of scope of supply and customer information
  • Providing accurate quotation progress on a weekly basis
  • Closing out commercial tender reviews
  • Utilising capacity efficiently and effectively
  • Monitors and executes the quotation tracker
  • Work closely with other support functions to deliver the companies objectives
  • Collaborates with the NPI function to deliver exceptional internal customer service
  • Milestone Achievement (Is related to dates within the quotation tracker and can be measured daily. x amount due against x amount completed)
  • Budget Variance (This KPI is looking at variation in costs between completed quotations and the completion of 1st off Jobs)
  • Has a clear understanding of business metrics and is focused on delivering results, in a timely manner reporting those metrics to the Commercial & Technical Estimator that are accurate and meet the operational and financial expectations of the business, including but not limited to:
  • Productivity >95%
  • Quality > 99.5% External and Internal 97.2%
  • Delivery on time.95%

Person Specification

Skills/Knowledge/Competencies:

Essential

  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Demonstratable Commercial Estimating experience within an Electrical Manufacturing environment.
  • Fully competent in creating and/or interpreting detailed customer BoM's.
  • Fully competent in understanding electrical schematics.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders, of varying complexity levels, and at various maturity stages.
Desirable

Product knowledge in Electrical Control Cabinets and/or Electro-mechanical assemblies.

  • Competency in Microsoft Sharepoint.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Can demonstrate a proven track record of processing and managing a large volume of commercial tender requests, on time and to budget of the same (or larger size) than PP and explain, in detail, how during their tenure they improved the operational performance in relation to:
  • QCD metrics
  • Company profitability
  • People (training, development, culture, successor planning etc.)
  • Methods of employee engagement
  • Proficient in Maths & English, minimum GCSE, or equivalent level.

The salary band is £32 to £42K

Working Hours are 8am-5pm -Monday -Thursday
8am -12pm Friday
