**Prisoner Custody Officer BACK SHIFT
Hours of work days on 4 days off
**Salary is £20,234 for permanent, full time 35 hours

You will be working a 4 days on 4 days off shift pattern with one additional shift per month to make up hours.

Shift times are 13:00pm - 22:00pm and from March 2023 your shift rota for the full calendar year will be available.


Who are GEOAmey?


GeoAmey is contracted by The Scottish Prison Service to provide all court custody and escorting services in Scotland covering 250 bases across the UK.

The 10 year contract includes the escorting of all prisoners in mainland Scotland and islands, betweenprisons, police stations and courts as well as all external visits, including hospital visits.

We transport over 600,000 prisoners each year. We have a fleet of over 550 specialised vehicles and employ 3,000 employees on the contract.


Whether you are driving one of our purpose-built secure vehicles, conducting searches, escorting prisoners, managing prisoners at Court, or completing paperwork, your focus will always be on safety and security whilst treating people with respect and consideration.

You will be trained to ensure that all prisoners, regardless of any allegations or convictions, are dealt with consistently, fairly and in line with regulations.

In this fast paced environment, you will need to remain calm under pressure, adapt to changingsituations and have a full UK driving licence along with the ability to work at weekends.


What's involved in this job?

  • The people in your care will have a variety of different needs and it will be your role to ensure those individuals are treated with dignity and respect whilst maintaining a safe, secure and structured environment.
  • You have full responsibility for every aspect of the physical and mental wellbeing of those in your care, ensuring their health, safety and wellbeing is a priority.
  • You will liaise with Prison and police authorities, ensuring all documentation is completed and correct, carrying out risk assessments on vulnerable or atrisk prisoners.
  • Operating as a critical part of our security network for custodies who are receiving medical treatment in hospital.
  • Managing personal property and being responsible for organising and supervising meals and drinks
  • You will transport prisoners from hospitals to, police stations or prisons

What experience do I need?


We provide a 6 week super comprehensive full time training programme which will ensure you are fully prepared for all eventualities of the role.

We're looking for you to have the right behaviours to care for and help people, so working well in a team, empathyand patience and someone who can listen, understand and communicate effectively.

A full UK driving licence is required.
