AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Travel Assistance Assessment Officer in the Havering area months contract.


Main purpose of the Job/Key objectives:
The post holder will act as the dedicated liaison officer within the Council and supports with the delivery of travel assistance to residents, which includes:

  • Providing personalised travel solutions to residents
  • Ensuring people receive a good service and are supported as necessary
  • Promoting the welfare and independence of children, young people and their families
  • Building positive relationships with families and developing community cohesion
  • Progressing partnerships with external organisations including schools, colleges and local charities
  • Promoting sustainable ways of working and delivering support

Job context:


The postholder reports to:
Senior Commissioner and Project Manager


  • The postholder has no line management responsibility.

The postholder will be required to work:

  • 36 hours per week
  • Occasionally outside 'normal' office hours/as required to meet the needs of the community

Experience:


  • Experiencing of working alongside and supporting individuals or families from a variety of backgrounds, and with varying abilities, strengths and needs, in a positive, person-centered way
  • Experience of developing and undertaking strengths-based eligibility assessments, positive risk assessments or reviews
  • Experience of working with individuals and organisations to find solutions to complex issues
  • Experience of working constructively and sympathetically with children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their parents/guardians
  • Experience or knowledge of working in travel assistance provision and relevant legislation, policy and statutory guidance

Skills:


  • Possess a strong understanding and commitment to building independence in children and young people
  • Have excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and nurture relationships and partnerships with a range of people and organisations at a personal, service and community level
  • Able to work sympathetically and constructively with children, young people or adults within a social care context
  • Able to set own goals, manage own work and competing priorities in a fastpaced environment, using initiative and exercising judgement
