Description

The Lewisham CAMHS Crisis Team is a Multi-disciplinary Tier3 CAMHS Service that works with young people who attend University Hospital Lewisham in a crisis.

Adolescents who present have a range of mental health disorder and distress. Some present with self-harming behaviour or suicidal ideation. Others have mental health disorders including psychosis or severe mental ill-health. The team undertake mental health assessment, formulation and diagnosis, brief interventions and care and risk planning

The team is currently composed of a Consultant Psychiatrist and CAMHS Nursing colleagues; though experienced professional applicants from other health care related backgrounds would be welcomed.

We work closely alongside wider tier 3 CAMHS teams, specialist tier 4 services and inpatient settings as required.

The team work in collaboration with complex networks around the young person including social care, education, residential services and other healthcare providers.

We are seeking to recruit a Band 7 CAMHS Crisis Senior Practitioner.

We would like to recruit someone who has:

  • Experience of assessing, formulating and (sometimes) offering brief interventions to young people with complex mental health needs as described above.
  • The applicant will also need the negotiation and communication skills necessary to liaise with the range of colleagues from CAMHS and partner agencies to ensure safe discharge or inpatient admission.
The Lewisham CAMHS Crisis Team is located at Kaleidoscope, Rushy Green, Catford. There is an expectation that clinicians assess young people in University Hospital Lewisham A&E Department.

During the covid pandemic there is an expectation that some work will be completed from home and some from the clinic (2/3).
