Interim Senior Finance Specialist - HousingThe Company Overview:
Due to a recent process review, my client, a NFP Housing Association based in Sheffield are looking for an Interim Senior Finance Specialist to provide additional expertise and support to the business through a period of significant improvement to finance and governance arrangements.
This role would suit an articulate individual with a solid understanding of change management and business process remodelling, ideally with a firm understanding of the regulatory context in which they operate.
Your role as Interim Senior Finance Specialist:
Your duties / key areas of work will include:
- To lead a programme of finance improvement projects as agreed with the Finance Director and CEO
- To challenge the status quo and actively identify opportunities for the organisation to radically improve its finance processes, systems, outcomes and capabilities
- To build and facilitate cross functional relationships with finance and other departments to support the implementation of improvement work
- To monitor progress on the programme of improvements, resolving issues and taking corrective action when necessary
- Ensure that there is robust commissioning for business improvements, with a clear articulation of the work required, the benefits and a plan to complete the work
- To seek out and tackle any issues that prevent the delivery of business benefits in our finance improvement work, facilitating open discussion between key players
- Take a lead on transition management, ensuring that business as usual is maintained during this period of transition and that changes are effectively integrated into the business
- To work with the Finance and IT Teams to identify scope for improved financial and Regulator reporting and to work with the teams to deliver these improvements
- To colead the preparation of statutory accounts in line with current legislation and best practice.
- To ensure that all existing reconciliations and financial controls are observed and to design and implement improvements where required
- Review the approach to records of assets, liabilities and transactions and implement improvements as required.
- To support the external audit, providing information and following up audit queries
- To monitor and report on operational issues, taking responsibility for any remedial action needed to meet agreed performance targets.
- To work with the Treasury Accountant to review our approaches treasury and cash flow accounting and reporting and to implement improvements as required
- To prepare and present information to the Board, committees and other relevant bodies.
The Experience & Qualifications Required:
- Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
- Extensive financial and audit experience at a senior level
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate finance related information
- A solid understanding of change management and how to effectively implement systematic change in a complex environment
- Experience of business process remodelling
- Senior level Treasury Finance experience including dealing with lenders
- Experience within housing sector and robust understanding of the regulatory context in which we operate
- Extensive experience of producing Annual and quarterly returns
- Analytical mindset and ability to produce high quality data and analysis
- Proven ability to collaborate and develop effective cross functional working groups to deliver change.
