The postholder will:


  • Support the ongoing development, improvement, and operation of the workforce planning system.
  • Support the Workforce Education Transformation Leads and Programme Managers.
  • Work with Business Intelligence colleagues to develop, deliver and maintain robust systems for workforce information and planning. This will include delivery of support to a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support a range of projects and workstreams, contribute to other workstreams and programmes as required, including strategic workforce planning.
  • Support the activities of a portfolio of ICSs and Local Teams.
  • Engage with a wide range of forums and groups to ensure that HEE receives relevant, timely and up to date information. This will include liaison with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure all views are represented and hence the best possible solutions are developed. This will include ICS team, employers, regulators, HEIs and other key bodies related to particular professions.
  • Work closely with colleagues across HEE to contribute to corporate and ministerial briefings, PQs and correspondence as required, often at short notice.
Health Education England (HEE) oversees the delivery of workforce development and transformation opportunities alongside supporting multi-professional education and training.

We support the delivery of excellent healthcare and health improvement to the patients and public of England by working collaboratively with health and social care stakeholders to ensure the workforce of today and tomorrow has the right numbers, skills, values, and behaviours, at the right time and in the right place.


A new NHS People Promise, sets out how the NHS will support, develop, and empower everyone who works or is learning in the NHS.

There is strong collaboration between HEE and NHS England & NHS Improvement, and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) /Sustainable Transformation Partnerships (STPs) to drive local workforce transformation through education and development.

This collaboration will be supported by new regional people boards and greater influence for ICSs over national decisions on education, training, and workforce development.
