We have an opportunity for a 1.0wte operational team lead for the Mental Health Support Team in East Staffordshire

The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) is the NHSE/DfE/HEE commitment to developing early support in schools through trailblazer sites that have been accepted via a bidding process.

This role will support the current team in East Staffs, You will need to have managerial experience and competence, team development, leadership skills as well as a clinical understanding of low intensity casework/supervision.

An understanding of wider agendas such as Thrive, workforce development, outcome measures and engagement with service users would be beneficial.

We have specialist mother and baby, eating disorder and medium secure forensic mental health services and contracts across the country for IAPT, addiction and some health services in prisons as well as hosting a network for inpatient mental health care for serving military personnel.

Summary of MHST Key Points

MHSTs are a new service designed to help meet the mental health needs of children and young people in education settings. They are made up of senior clinicians and higherlevel therapists, and Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs).
MHSTs should work within the mental health supports that already exist, such as counselling, educational psychologist, school nurses, pastoral care, educational welfare officers, VCSEs, the local authority provision and NHS CYPMH services.
Staff from each MHST will be responsible for a defined cluster or group of education settings, building a relationship with each, including the senior mental health lead.

The post holder carries day to day responsibility for the operational management and delivery of services within the multidisciplinary team.

The post holder will ensure that a high quality of service is delivered within this clinical area and that all National and Trust targets and standards are adhered to including the recording of information within the IT systems.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of staff within the team, leadership, the delivery and delegation of management supervision and ensuring appropriate clinical / professional supervision takes place as per Trust policy and procedure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Development and Review

To engage in and support the development of policies, procedures and working practices within the team. Ensure implementation, monitoring, evaluation and compliance with all policies and procedures in area of responsibility.
Work collaboratively with the Service Manager, and team clinical leads in the planning and delivery of the service.
To ensure that all Trust policies and guidelines are adhered to and provide guidance to clinical staff regarding implementation.
To support the local implementation/development of National strategies and to initiate change and practice development.
