To play a pivotal role in establishing, implementing and evaluating a range of recruitment initiatives across a variety of staff groups within the Trust.

To assist with identifying innovative attraction strategies and to keep accurate records of recruitment activity and create reports as requested.


To support the recruitment team to provide a pro-active and effective service, dealing with escalated and complex queries when required.


To work closely with the International; Recruitment Co-ordinator ensuring the overseas recruitment process is administered effectively ensuring all overseas new starters receive a positive experience and informative on-boarding service.


Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton.

Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics-led Maternity and Paediatrics.

  • With the support and guidance of the Recruitment & Retention Manager and Head of Recruitment & Temporary Staffing provide a holistic, high quality and professional first class recruitment service to managers and employees.
  • Provide timely, accurate and meaningful data analysis, relating to the operational recruitment function.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to both managers and staff on recruitment issues and initiatives, taking a lead role in establishing, implementing and evaluating a range of staff recruitment initiatives.
  • Develop effective working relationships with managers and staff across the Trust, ensuring recruitment issues are identified; understood and individual needs are dealt with effectively and in a timely, professional and positive manner.
  • Work with the wider Trust to ensure that turnover is addressed and key staff are retained
  • To oversee the day to day management of the recruitment team in the absence of the Recruitment & Retention Manager.
  • To give training and guidance to junior team members
  • To regularly deliver the Trust Recruitment & Selection Training to managers
  • To deliver the Trac training to managers when required
  • Support the operational recruitment team and where necessary, take ownership of new hires who are not engaged with relevant compliancy documentation requirements.
  • Work closely with the Overseas Recruitment & Campaign lead ensuring the overseas recruitment process is administered effectively and ensuring all overseas new starters receive a positive experience and informative onboarding service.
  • Have expert knowledge of the overseas recruitment process and the various stages applicants need to go through in order to transfer their professional registrations.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to managers including leading on recruitment campaigns, advising on appropriate recruitment methods and the delivery of recruitment training
  • To ensure that all legal requirements and HR best practice as outlined in Trust policies, procedures and relevant NHS guidance and legislation are adhered to at all times
  • Have ownership of own recruitment activity from start to finish.
  • Support the implementation and delivery of the Trust's Recruitment & Retention Plan through effective and efficient management of the operational recruitment function.
  • Liaise with Trust managers regarding any complex queries escalating to a senior manager where necessary and appropriate.
  • Organise and facilitate various recruitment campaigns including open days, job fairs etc.
  • Contribute to Directorate meetings as required, providing recruitment updates and address any issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Trust policies, recruitment processes and national/legal guidance regarding recruitment activity.
  • Produce weekly and monthly reports including starter and KPI information.
  • Participate in system implementation and training sessions.
  • To help implement audits and spot checks of recruitment processes
  • To undertake such tasks as required by and under the supervision of the Recruitment & Resourcing Manager and Head of recruitment & Temporary Staffing.
