Description

This is an interim role up to the 31 March 2024 pending the restructure of the Foundation School across the Southwest.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and dynamic Consultant to be Head of the Peninsula Foundation School.

The Head of School will have a pivotal role in leading the Foundation School activity and supporting the Regional Postgraduate Dean to deliver the expansion and a wide range of functions aligned to the NHS England mandate regarding training and development of Foundation doctors.

This is a challenging role and requires the ability to demonstrate leadership in postgraduate medical education, negotiating with key stakeholders and ensuring high standards all the way.

The Head of School will focus upon improvement of learner supervision, assessment and experience, engagement of faculty and ensuring effective educational outcomes, both now and in the future.

The role is evolving and will also focus on whole workforce transformation and developing multi-professional links.

There are 6 sessions (6PAs) available for this role.

The appointment will be made on the basis of a part-time secondment to NHS England working across the South West alongside existing employment.

Reimbursement will be made to the employing organisation equivalent to the number of sessions (PAs) to enable release for these duties.

This post is open to a senior qualified doctor (consultant) with a wide experience of Foundation training.
