Digital Communications Officer


Working Hours: 30 hours a week


Salary:
£26,000-£28,000 per annum


Location:
Hatfield Office based

Herts Young Homeless is an independent charity and has been supporting vulnerable people in Hertfordshire since 1998. We are professional, passionate, collaborative and supportive charity that provides guidance to everyone who is in need of support.

We are looking for a dedicated and passionate
Digital Communications Officer to join our team based in Hatfield.

You will be responsible for Creating, developing and evaluating hyh's online and social media presence to engage supporters, stakeholders and the wider public and to maximise digital fundraising opportunities.

The role will also support the development of digital content to support service delivery at the charity leading on public and internal communications.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Contribute to the achievement of the Fundraising team target of £425k in 22/2
  • Daytoday responsibility for managing relationships and communications with existing supporters through digital channels, ensuring exceptional supporter care.
  • Build strong and lasting relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, effectively communicating and persuading.
  • With the Fundraising team, grow and develop increased income from regular donations, create impactful appeals and campaigns.
  • Develop and deliver effective PR, communications and engagement activities working closely with the Fundraising team. Produce communication plans that ensure online and offline media coverage, with the appropriate call to action for individual giving.
  • Recruit, train, develop and assist fundraising volunteers to support activities when required.
  • Manage relationships with all supporters, stewarding them where possible to become longterm supporters of hyh with a maximum lifetime value
  • In collaboration with the Head of Fundraising, contribute to a strategic plan for digital growth, to generate significant net income, awareness and support for hyh.
  • Ensure that all activities are cost effective as possible, monitoring expenditure to ensure the best possible ROI and profit
  • Degree based in Marketing/Communications
  • Demonstrable experience of successfully working within a Communications Environment
  • A full driving licence
  • Proven experience of copywriting and video editing skills to create impactful communications material
  • Experience of building collaborative relationships within social media channels
  • An excellent understanding of online giving and digital channels
  • Experience of the charity sector
  • Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics
  • Practical experience of using a CRM database to support relationship management
  • Experience of working with the media and/or influencers
  • Excellent communicator in formal and informal communications, both verbally and in writing, to all stakeholders
  • Good understanding of the principles of fundraising
  • Understanding of database query, and reporting
  • Knowledge of Canva, Mailchimp and Hootsuite
  • Understanding of the issues of youth homelessness
  • Excellent relationship management skills, with ability to motivate and inspire others
