An exciting Research Fellow opportunities have become available to support the Midlands Nursing and Midwifery Excellence network, (hosted by UHCW NHS Trust).

As a Research Fellow, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the Midlands Region to deliver on two focus research areas, requiring a Quality Improvement methodology approach, in support of the Chief Nursing Officer for England's strategic plan for research.


The Research Fellow posts will deliver on two focus areas:

  • Case studies of
a) existing work ongoing within Acute provider settings, for example, ward accreditation schemes, professional decision-making councils and meaningful recognition schemes for staff,

b) to establish the impacts that this work has had upon specific metrics e.g., nurse satisfaction and retention.


  • A scoping review exploring
a) the benefits to the elements of work that have been implemented in Acute provider settings to enable identification of the elements of the work that are transferrable into other Providers, e.g. Hospice, Care Homes, Community Trusts,

b) further scoping review of what, how and when these initiatives could be transitioned in to those other Providers.


From these two focus areas both post holders will work closely to create an evaluation and executive summary, demonstrating the captured impact and QI methodologies found to exist in acute providers.

The posts will be based at UHCW NHS Trust.
