Description

The Faculty of Philosophy intends to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Logic to cover the teaching and other duties of a permanent postholder during a period of externally-funded research leave.

The post is fixed-term up to 30 September 2025.


The person appointed will take an active and substantial role in preparing course materials relating to the Faculty's new Philosophical Topics in Logic and Probability first-year undergraduate course, and in preparing supplementary examining and teaching materials to accompany the Faculty's existing Introduction to Logic first-year undergraduate course, in connection with which they will also have substantial exam setting and marking duties.

They will be expected to be able to deliver lectures in Logic to undergraduates, and to be able to provide classes to help prepare Teaching Assistants to teach Philosophical Topics in Logic and Probability in the first years of its existence.

They will also be expected to deliver 6 contact hours per week during term time of undergraduate tutorial or class teaching, primarily in logic and related areas.
