Job Purpose
A leading NHS GP Practise in the heart of Edinburgh is looking to further expand their administration team.
The focus of the role will be to receive, assist, and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Provide general assistance to the Practice Team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
What is the day to day of the role?
- Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the Practice.
- Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and followup appointments.
- Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
- Enter requests for home visits into the visit book, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
- Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours.
- Enter patient information on to the computer as required including coding medical conditions as directed by the Doctor.
- Knowledge of Vision and relevant IT databases.
- Enthusiastic, able to motivate self and others.
- Effective time management skills.
- Ensure correspondence, reports, results etc are filed promptly and in the correct records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
- Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or the Practice Manager or Assistant Practice Manager.
What do I need?
To be successful in the role, we are looking for applicants who can display the following traits;
- Attention to detail
- Due to the nature of the practise, confidentiality to key.
- A good level of written and verbal communication
- IT literate and be able to adapt to new IT systems
Salary:
£9.50 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
