GSL Education is currently looking to appoint experienced

Cover Supervisor for our client secondary schools in

Bolton, Greater Manchester. This position would be ideal for someone who has already worked as a

Cover Supervisor or with secondary school students in a different setting.

What the role will involve:

Supervising classes of up to 30 teenagers
Can be anywhere from y71
A timetable is issued of 6 (usually) lessons upon arrival. Could be anything (eg history, French, science, English and ICT)
You don't need to be a specialist as work will always be left
Primary objective is to maintain control of the classroom and keep the learners working, completing the work left by their class teacher the teacher may be present but 'remotely'
Communicate with the class teacher wherever possible, you may be their eyes and ears.
Be active, walking around the very front of the class and helping wherever possible but maintain social distancingIf you need to move into the class area, please wear your mask
Have an opening gambit in mind, an introduction for each class, so the children can get to know you, as this will help build a professional relationship
Advise the children that you want to leave lots of positive notes for their teacher at the end of the lesson and do leave notes, also make notes real time so you don't forget
Be aware of the school behaviour policy and follow it as necessary
Use the pupils' names where possible, you should have a seating plan with names and photos
Experience of supervising and managing a team effectively
Experience in undertaking administrative tasks
Experience of working within a school, and working with a class of students
Able to work under pressure, remaining calm and positive in challenging circumstances
Understand classroom roles and responsibilities, and your position within these areas
