Accountabilties


As a Strategic Networks Senior Engineer you'll be responsible for the development and implementation of long term Asset Management Strategies which recognises existing regulatory commitments and aligns to Cadent's overall Asset Management Policy (G/30) andStrategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP).

You'll use the Institute of Asset Management (IAM) model for Asset Management and be responsible for the development of relevant Decision Support Frameworks to support delivery of asset strategies and ensure consistentdecision making for investment within the networks.

Key accountabilities of our Strategic Networks Senior Engineer will also include:

  • Supporting the development of capability building and skills required within the Asset Management function, including the culture and competence requirements of the team
  • Responsible for the development of a longterm investment plan to deliver relevant the Asset Strategies, including the evaluation of investment options using whole life costing principles, the approach for acquiring new assets and contingency planning
  • Supporting to provide assurance to the Head of Strategic Networks of the progress and performance against plan of asset strategies including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Liaising with relevant local Investment Planning Offices to understand delivery against plan to ensure the strategies are effective
  • Effective stakeholder engagement by ensuring Asset Management Strategies are deliverable and that the business plan is aligned to both financial requirements and resource constraints
  • Responsible for working with the SAMP team, the Asset Data team, and the Investment Planning Offices to drive improved asset data for effective asset decisionmaking
  • Contributing to the development of Cadent's Asset Management Policy (G/30) and overall Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP)
  • Supporting resolution of any relevant internal/external audit actions
  • Contributing to the Cadent Asset Management Community of Practice (IAM based principles)
  • Supporting the ongoing accreditation of ISO55001

Practical experience
We're looking for individuals who hold the following skills and experience:

  • Incorporated Engineer or equivalent recognised certification in Asset Management
  • Membership of professional institution relevant to the role ideally to Chartered Status is desirable
  • Strategic and ordered thinker
  • Great communicator and effective collaborator
  • Strong influencing skills
  • Experience of asset management and investment planning for a large asset base
  • Experience of working with complex engineering assets
  • Financial and business acumen
  • Understanding of the UK Energy Systems and Markets
  • Understanding and knowledge of the RIIO regulatory framework
  • Understanding of Process Safety
  • Ability to analyse and interpret complex technical and data issues to form insights and recommendations
This role will also involve some travel and therefore a driving licence will be required for the role.
