Staff365 are recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager / Team Leader for our manufacturing client located in Sheffield.

  • Salary: £39,335.00 per annum with a salary review after probationary period
  • 30 days holiday per annum with an additional 8 bank holidays

Main Duties /Responsibilities

  • To Lead and develop staff members to ensure manufacture of components, products and systems, within agreed quality, cost, delivery and EnEHS (QCDH) standards.
  • Lead activities to ensure that products meet all requirements, and to achieve KPIs agreed.
  • Determine priorities to match weekly schedules and makes respective assignments.
  • Direct personnel actions, including selection, training, performance management, appraisal and safety procedures.
  • Direct routine equipment setup and maintenance and checks for accomplishment.
  • Ensure availability of production infrastructure (i.e. availability of tools, maintenance services, set up operations, etc.).
  • Effectively organise, implement, and manage development of team members to ensure employees have the necessary qualification and skills to undertake tasks they are asked to perform.
  • Communicates effectively using regular team meetings, coaching of team members, toolbox talks
  • Be the "Champion" for MOVE in the workplace responsible for Continuous Improvement by actively identifying and supporting change processes

Knowledge, skills and experience:


  • Educated to [HNC/D]/Degree level; Automotive/Mech Eng; Timeserved Apprenticeship in Engineering (desirable)
  • Background within medium/high volume manufacturing/engineering environment (essential)
  • Proven experience of Managing People/Division; team leadership skills; creative thinker; project management skills
  • Experience of working in a multisite environment (desirable)
  • Highly experienced in working under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to set and meet personal targets, combined with the flexibility to adjust to workload priorities to take account of new deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to customer service
  • Awareness of wider Company issues and relevant legislation. Required to keep informed of changes in legislation and departmental policy to deliver correct advice
  • Able to read engineering drawings; ability to read, understand, organise and identify tools and equipment and their correct usage from drawings/layouts. Knowledge of gauge metrology
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality, and produce/process documents accurately
  • IT knowledge, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SAP (desirable)
