Based at St Thomas' Hospital, this role offers a pivotal opportunity to contribute to the implementation of pathogen sequencing into clinical laboratories.
You'll be at the forefront of groundbreaking work in the Centre for Clinical Infection and Diagnostics Research (CIDR), alongside a dedicated Transformative Award team.
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in advancing innovation in infectious disease diagnostics and in training the next generation of laboratory professionals.
In this role at Synnovis Analytics, you will lead pioneering initiatives in pathology services, alongside the Transformative Award team, with a focus on implementing Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) within clinical laboratories.
As a hands-on contributor, you will train Biomedical Scientists and Medical Laboratory Assistants in sequencing techniques, ensuring adherence to the highest standards.
Engaging in research initiatives, interpreting sequencing results, and actively contributing to experiments related to NGS and molecular techniques, you'll stay at the forefront of scientific advancements.
Complying with health and safety policies and ISO15189 standards, you will maintain accurate laboratory databases, use Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS), and communicate effectively with the bioinformatician.

At Synnovis, we are currently shaping the future of pathology services by creating a world-leading Hub and Spoke pathology network with our NHS partners.
A large part of this modernisation will involve moving 70% of our services to a purpose built, state of the art Hub laboratory in the heart of London.
TechnicalTo undertake manual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory techniques.
To follow the standard operating procedures and to participate in their regular review and update.
To undertake routine operative maintenance on laboratory instruments.
To plan and organise work within the demands of the team.
To undertake technical validation of the complex results from laboratory investigations ensuring accuracy and precision as specified by laboratory protocols.
To carry out corrective action when the quality control procedures indicate loss of performance.
To prepare reagents required for laboratory investigations
To report any instance or event which may cause a service delivery failure.
Scientific
To undertake sequencing methods and laboratory instrument evaluation as required
To participate in research and development as required.
Research
To use interpretive skills to results,
To interpret sequencing laboratory results and take appropriate actions, including the quality controls of the workflow referring results for a second opinion operation of automated equipment
Actively engage in research initiatives, contributing to the design, execution, and analysis of experiments related to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and molecular techniques.
Collaborate with CIDR research team members to drive innovation and advancements in infectious disease diagnostics.
Laboratory Informatics
To comply with local and national policies for the safe, secure and confidential processing, and storage of patient and another laboratory information.
To enter their own results and those obtained by others into the database.
To maintain the integrity and accuracy of laboratory databases.
