This European Bank is seeking an experienced Employee Relations Lead to report into the Chief Human Resources Officer and to develop and deliver the employee relations strategy across the UK.

This is a newly created role that will sit on the HR leadershipteam. This role will be key in influencing organisational design and leadership direction across the HR function. London or Manchester.

Description

  • Developing and implementing an ER strategy, with a focus on ensuring a continuing positive ER culture.
  • Making recommendations, including organisation development interventions, to and influencing the business and where appropriate senior leadership in thinking and approach, to deliver the ER strategy as a progressive and dynamic organisation.
  • Work closely with the Chief HR Officer to ensure the effective management and mitigation of ER risk in the Bank.
  • Partnering with Heads of HR and HR Business Partners (HRBP's) as required, to provide highquality support and advice, ensuring the effective and timely content, management and delivery of ERrelated risks (legal, financial and reputational).
  • Collaborate with the Employment Lawyer(s) to agree terms of reference between HR and Legal and effectively manage stakeholders to ensure these are adhered to.
  • Provide appropriate coaching and development feedback to HRBP's, the wider HR function and where appropriate to business stakeholders enabling their continued development in managing ER matters with consistency and in line with best practice.
  • Manage complex ER investigations and the documentation connected to the investigations of whistleblowing matters, potential conduct rule breaches, nonfinancial misconduct, discrimination/harassment, etc. This will include but not limited to project managingand assisting with structuring investigations and hearings, identifying risk and exposure for the Bank and delivering outcomes.
  • Building and maintaining good relationships with internal and external stakeholders including, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Employment Lawyer(s) and accessing external advice as required.
  • Creating, designing, maintaining and implementing all ER policies, processes and support material in line with best practice, legal and regulatory requirements and in support of the ER strategy.
  • Collaborating with Employment Lawyer(s) and the HR Governance team to input into creation, review and implementation of relevant standard and regulatory processes and policies including the Bank's handbook's and other relevant HR templates and precedentse.g. employment agreements and offer letters, consultancy agreements and settlement agreements, to incorporate legislative changes and best practice.
  • ER project management including key advisory and leading the ER workstream for any restructuring or similar large scale exercises.
  • Collaborating with Employment Lawyer(s) to build ER capabilities of the HR function and wider business, helping to ensure a healthy ER environment in the Bank.
  • Analyse ER metrics to identify needs, highlight issues and present solutions to reduce ER activity across the business.
  • Operates in line with the Bank's Risk Management framework (including subframeworks) and relevant risk and compliance policies and procedures, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of any concerns to their line manager.

Profile

  • Relevant experience in UK employee relations in a fast paced Financial Services organisation
  • Knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Knowledge of Senior Manager's Regime including Conduct Rules.
  • A strategic thinker with experience in translating the objectives of a business into a clear ER strategy.
  • Coaching the wider HR community
  • Initiative, solutions focused with a strong service orientation.
  • Ability to show good judgement to balance commercially with risk management.
  • Flexibility in style and approach to assist the business to achieve their strategy.
  • Sensitivity and diplomacy, highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to gain credibility and trust with all levels of employees including senior management.
