Salary:
£10,317 - £10,775 pro rate (£23,115 - £24,142 FTE)


Hours:19 hours per week (2.5 days) 8.00am-4.00pm Monday and Friday and one other day 8.00am-12.00pm Term time only including Insets on a pro rata basis.


Contract type:
Fixed term initially for 1 year with a view to making this permanent contract dependent on business need.


Reporting to:
Assistant Head - Teaching and Learning


Main purpose
To provide a stimulating and engaging library where a love of reading is promoted. To ensure thesmooth

effective running of the Library and Learning Resource Centre and overseeing the use of the resource centre

for English library lessons, mentoring and intervention groups.


Key Duties

  • The selection, acquisition, organisation, promotion and maintenance of books and nonbook resources to cover the full age and ability range of the school community and ensure equality of opportunity for all pupils and staff.
  • Arrangements of materials for effective retrieval including the systematic indexing, classification and cataloguing of all resources to staff and pupils as appropriate.
  • Ensure a high standard of display and promotional material to enhance the standard of appearance of the centre in order to provide an attractive environment conducive to achieving optimum use.
  • Guidance and assistance to users regarding the appropriate strategies for the selection of information resources, the effective use of reference material, the compilation of resources lists(books, DVDs, Videos etc.) and the choice of literature and materials.
