The Role


We are looking for a talented Database Administrator to work within one of our central teams, partnering with team members from Product, Design and Engineering.

You will take ownership of the performance, reliability and scalability of our core platform. Suggesting and implementing change in a safe and tested manor, owning the analysis, recommendations and implementation of changes.

Mentoring and coaching wider data colleagues and peers will be a core part of the role as we grow and build the team.


You will tackle interesting, novel situations every day and you'll have the opportunity to partner with multiple product teams at Morningstar in order to deliver exceptional service to the Wealth Platform business.

You will have the freedom and encouragement to experiment, improve, invent, and innovate on behalf of our customers.

You will have the satisfaction of being able to deliver value to customers in a fast-paced, iterative environment, as well as look back and say you were a big part of something truly innovative from the earliest stages.


Requirements:


  • Previous experience as a DBA either Oracle DBA or SQL DBA
  • Deep understanding of databases, maintenance and change
  • Strong leadership skills to prioritise and manage the ongoing development of the platform
  • Fast and Curious learner, with a restless curiosity for analysing and understanding data
  • Ability to look holistically at opportunities to understand the implications for a multitude of stakeholders
  • Experience and understanding of Agile Development methodologies, including Scrum.
  • Knowledge of relational and nonrelational databases, with Machine learning/ AI modelling is useful however not mandated
